The OLPC organization may have plans to drop Linux and welcome Microsoft’s Windows XP.Microsoft has been working to get a slimmed-down version of Windows to run on XO laptops. One current hang-up is whether the necessary hardware would add $7 to $12 to an XO’s cost, taking the project even further away from its eventual goal of producing the machines for less than $100.

The Windows-based XO systems will be released in the upcoming pilot programs from June onwards, and it is nice to see that the OLPC group and Microsoft finally come to an agreement where everyone can win. After all, the decision as to whether to include Continue reading…
